10-DAY ADVENTURE RWANDA
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali airport
Day 2: Gorilla trekking
Trekking amongst the Mountain Gorillas of Volcanoes National Park is one of the most memorable experiences of a lifetime.
Upon sighting the gorillas, you will stay with them for a magical hour before returning to the base where your driver will be waiting for you. The Volcano National Park is well known for its spectacular views of the undulating volcanoes of Mount Karisimbi, Bisoke, Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura.
After lunch, take a scenic drive to the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera and marvel at the views of the Virunga mountain chain.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Trail
To view the Golden Monkey is an entirely different experience compared to visiting the gorillas. Golden Monkeys are endangered, live mainly in the bamboo thickets and are smaller and harder to spot. In the afternoon, visit an ex-poacher’s village where you will learn more about the traditions of fire making, traditional medicine, traditional dances among other things, or visit a nearby local market.
Day 4: Kibuye
Take a boat ride to Kibuye where you can visit the islands en route and in the afternoon continue further to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Day 5: Nyungwe Forest National Park and chimpanzee trekking
The Nyungwe Forest National Park is probably the largest tract of montane forest in central Africa. Take a walk into rainforest, home to more than 13 different primate species. In the afternoon, visit a nearby tea plantation.
Day 6: Royal Palace, Nyanza
Drive to Huye and visit Royal Palace at Nyanza restored entirely of traditional materials. Continue to the university town of Huye where you will visit the National Museum which houses perhaps the best ethnographic collection in East and Central Africa.
